New to HPDE
For drivers doing their first track event. Experienced lead instructors cover line, speed, braking and gear selection. Classroom and post-session debriefs are mandatory. Passing is very limited.
Four run groups, real lead/follow instruction and a hard driver cap, at New Jersey Motorsports Park, Pocono Raceway and Palmer Motorsports Park.
The program
We cap our events so the track stays clear and the day keeps moving. Drivers are split by experience into four groups, and every group runs six sessions. New drivers get classroom time and lead/follow instruction built into the schedule, not sold as an add-on.
For drivers doing their first track event. Experienced lead instructors cover line, speed, braking and gear selection. Classroom and post-session debriefs are mandatory. Passing is very limited.
For drivers with a couple of events behind them who have driven the track before. Same instructor support and mandatory classroom sessions as Intro, at a higher pace. Passing is very limited.
You keep pace, stay on line, stay consistent and give proactive point-bys. Passing is allowed in the designated zones with a point-by. Coaching is available on request in a lead/follow format with a debrief.
For seasoned HPDE drivers, current and former racers, and instructors. No passing restrictions, but point-bys are still required and the same caution applies. This is not a race.
Instruction
“The best classroom of all time was about two car lengths behind Juan Manuel Fangio.”
— Stirling Moss
We teach through lead/follow on top of classroom sessions. Drivers see exactly what an instructor is doing with line, braking and acceleration — something in-car instruction simply cannot show you.
Each on-track instructor leads a group of three to four drivers. After every session there is a download: a debrief between instructor and students to review technique and answer questions.
Where we run
Millville, NJ. Closed-face Snell SA2015 or SA2020 helmets only — NJMP does not permit open face or motorcycle-rated helmets.
Long Pond, PA. We have run both the 2.53 mile North/South Mega Course — 15 turns, two sets of esses and a straight — and the 1.5 mile North Course.
Palmer, MA. A technical elevation-change circuit in the Massachusetts hills.
